Rimmel Scandal Eyes Flex Mascara | Review

It's been a while since I last did a product review on my blog and I said wayyy back in this post, that I would review Rimmel's Scandal Eyes Flex Mascara, so here you have it. In that post, I said I was loving it, but that love for it was very short lived.

Rimmel claim that this mascara makes lashes 'full and voluptuous' whilst still being flexible and soft, not stiff and brittle. Here are my thoughts on these claims.

First of all the packaging. I've read a lot of reviews saying that the packaging is 'tacky' and 'cheap looking' but personally, I quite like it. I think it's quite cool and different, and it certainly adds a splash of colour to my mascara collection. This however is where the positives end.

In terms of volume, this mascara does make your lashes look quite thick and voluptuous but the 'no clumps' is absolute nonsense. This is quite frankly the most clumpy mascara I have ever come across. The brush is HUGE and when you take it out of the tube, there is A LOT of excess mascara that causes my eyelashes to clump together. Even after brushing all the excess off, my eyelashes still get clumped together.

As you can see, the brush is covered in a lot of excess mascara.

I find this mascara to be very heavy and it weighs down my lashes, even after I've curled them. I've never had a problem like this with any other mascaras.

This mascara doesn't separate my lashes, they always look 'criss-crossed' after applying it

Above is my eyelashes after applying 2 coats. You can probably see the 'drooping' lashes and how the lashes nearer the outer corner are really criss-crossed. I just think that this mascara just makes your lashes look messy and it doesn't do as it says.

I will however give it a little bit of credit as my lashes really do feel soft when I wear this mascara but it is NOT buildable in the slightest.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this mascara as there are plenty mascara's out there for the same price that work 10x better than this, I'm glad I never actually paid for this and got it free on an offer or else I would have wasted my money.

  1. Are you doing the top of your lashes or just the underneath? if the Mascara is quite heavy then I'd recommend just putting it on the underneath of your lashes.

  2. Despite the mascara being not that good, your lashes look so pretty in the picture. ;)
